I provide psychotherapy to children, families and individuals in a non-judgmental and supportive environment that promotes healing and allows for the realization of potential. Therapy is an interactive dialogue between therapist and client that works to uncover hidden beliefs, feelings and assumptions that prevent the client from leading a healthy and fulfilling life. Through the process, the client will attain insight into these beliefs and develop a greater self-awareness. This will allow him or her to live a more deliberate, self-respecting, and productive life. Unresolved or unconscious emotional issues can destroy self-esteem and negatively affect ambition, creativity and confidence. The feelings and beliefs individuals hide, often even from themselves, erode their relationships and ability to communicate effectively.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. An LCSW is a license issued by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences to practice psychotherapy. An LCSW is issued to individuals who have a Masters Degree in Social Work, have passed both written and oral examinations, and have completed 3,200 hours of supervised clinical experience. I received my Masters in Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin in 1994 and have been practicing in California since that time. I offer a free, 15-minute initial consultation. A correct fit between client and therapist is essential for successful therapy. There are many different therapeutic styles and different types of therapists, and it is difficult to know who will be the best personal fit for you. During the initial consultation, you will have the opportunity to discuss your therapeutic goals and decide if my personal style and approach will best address your needs. I accept Northern California Behavioral Health, Blue Shield of California, Magellan Behavioral Health, Managed Heath Network (MHN), and First Health Insurance. These behavior health companies contract with many insurance companies to provide mental health benefits. Please contact your insurance company to see if their mental health benefits are provided by one of these companies. I also see uninsured clients and clients whose insurance no longer covers therapy. |
